Design Project For Transporter Pod
inovad received a brief to design and manufacture the metalwork for a VW Transporter van. A design to incorporate a set of large heavy-duty drawers that could be used for work tools during the week. Then at the weekend, could be converted into camping storage with a double bed that pulls out over the rear seats was requested. The drawers also had to house a camping stove and chopping board.
The metalwork frame and drawers bolt directly to the existing lashing points of VW Transporter vans.
After carrying out design meetings and finalising the three-dimensional CAD file we produced and sent to our customer, we were ready to manufacture.
We fabricated a set of jigs to speed up production and keep the cost down on future orders. We built the framework and drawers, powder coated it, and assembled the whole unit into the van. The wood was then screwed to the tabs that were welded to the framework.
Several fittings were carried out at various points of manufacture to ensure the functionality of the design. As a result a bespoke high quality product exceeding the expectaion was delivered, on time and within budget.
Our customer was very pleased with our service and their final product and gave us a 5-star Google rating.
The transporter pod is now being marketed across the UK.
Press Brake our new machine
A press brake, also known as a brake press, is a machine tool for bending/folding sheet and plate material. It is most common in sheet metal. The machine forms predetermined bends by clamping the work piece between a matching punch and die.
Our 80 tonne 2.5 meter Amada press brake is a multi-axis machine which gives us greater accuracy and control over the components that we need to press.
The machine excels in folding intricate large and small quantity batches of thinner materials up to 6mm thick.
The CNC controller allows us to calculate the undeveloped flat shape size before we commit to cutting parts, to ensure that set up and test folds are kept to a minimum.
This is our second press brake, we also have a 3 meter 100 tonne alongside this one.

It is not just high volume work we cater for; we regularly do smaller batch size runs and one-off items. The type of things we have developed and made for our customers range from simple brackets, channels, trays, steel ducts, extraction hoods, electrical boxes, stainless steel cones and aluminium louvered boxes.

A stainless steel oven cone used in the automotive industry. The cone carries abrasive polymer granules that we reverse engineered to enable us to manufacture a new one.

Fabricated Calibration Trolley’s
Our customer asked us to design and fabricate a storage solution for housing their calibration tooling. The end result is 3 off trolley`s fitted with component specific foam inserts that they can securely lock away and transport safely without damaging the tooling. New Press Brake Order
Inovad are proud to announce that we have just ordered a brand new Amada HFE MK2 80-25 press brake.
This machine will be commissioned towards the end of March alongside our existing 3 meter 100 ton press brake, enabling us to deliver a fast turn around on our work.
This will be used for subcontract fine limit sheet metal work, high volume production and prototypes.
